It was a successful gathering of the Casiguranons on Sunday July 30, 2006 at Redondo Beach, California. Through the efforts of past-president Vic Martires and the officers there was good attendance at the annual summer get-together. It started with saying hello and catching up with everyone who was able to make it to the gathering. It was heart-warming to meet every Casiguranon which surely brought back fond memories of our beloved hometown. Surely each has planted a seed and has bloomed wherever they were planted with all their families, children and grandchildren who have grown over the years. There were about 40 or more families who have attended. The Habil family (all 5 brothers and sisters) with their kids, the Hamors, Huertos, Ferarens, Santiagos, Escuderos, Martires’, Habal, Haling, Hular, Hara, de Castro & others.
At around noon karaon na which started with prayers led by Vic. Food kept coming in with each guest who arrived. What would a bicolanos’ gathering be without ginataan na gabi niyan langka, pritos na sira, pansit, okoy, etc. so much food that makes you more homesick of our beloved town. After lunch, a meeting was called in place to elect the new officers of CAUSA. Hilda Santiago went around to get the names, addresses and contact information of everyone who was present.
The elected officers were: Tony Haw – President, Pinky de CastroVilla was reelected as Vice-president, the rest of the officers follows: Arlene Habil Olimberio – Secretary, Marcela Hara Averion - Assist. Secretary, Sol Hadap Habil – Treasurer, Minerva San Joaquin Carnero - Assist. Treasurer, Leonor Agnir Escudero - Auditor (re-elected), P. R. O.‘s, Pinky M. Escudero & Romy Hular (re-elected). Business Managers: re-elected were Amparo Habla Dela Rosa and Celia Habil Nava, Alfredo Hinal & Paul Olimberio are newly elected.
Board of Directors: Re-elected were, Ed Escudero, Raul Santiago, Ira Hababag, Rudy Dela Rosa, Molly Santiago, Chito Martires, Charlie Habal, Robert Villa, and Pontoy Habil. New members are: Arnold Ferarin, Ramon Huerto, Vic Martires and Joseph Averion.
Outgoing president Vic Martires talked about CAUSA’s finances then elected president Tony Haw discussed certain agenda and projects that will be implemented during his term. He talked about fundraising for college scholarships for deserving students from Casiguran who could bring back to their families and the community. He also asked if anyone wanted to volunteer to be CAUSA’s historian who would gather all the pictures and memorabilia since CAUSA’s founding. Plans for a get-together to celebrate our town fiesta in honor of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary on Saturday October 7th were also discussed to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada as suggested by Sol Habil. This will coincide with the 10year anniversary celebration and also the oath taking of the newly elected officers and board of directors.
And before heading home, not to forget the most important group pictures were taken which turned out to be (as always) a fun event for everyone. The gathering ended late afternoon at 6:00 pm . Everyone left with joy in their hearts anticipating the next meeting. Till we see each other again fellow Casiguranons. Take care and God bless.

Welcome to Las Vegas, Casiguranon. Saturday October 7, 2006 is CAUSA's 10th year anniversary, Fiesta celebration in honor of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary and induction of officers for the year 2006-2008. Please be with us on this joyous occasion and have fun during our dinner and dance from 2:00pm to 8:00pm and afterwards you will still have plenty of time to go and check out Nevada's finest casinos.
