Gold Medal for Casiguran

Oct. 7, 2006

Raffy de Jesus wins another Gold Medal and more ….

Breaking news for Filipinos on the 5th International Friendship Taekwondo Championship in Portland, Oregon, October 7-8, 2006 sponsored by the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) and USA Taekwondo.
Raffy Hapin de Jesus accompanied by his very proud parents Carlos (Baby) de Jesus and Ina Hapin won a Gold Medal in sparring for the Bantam Division. He added another Golden Award Performance for being First on POOMSE (FORMS). And on the last day of the Tournament, Raffy de Jesus captured the highest and most coveted BEST PLAYER AWARD during the championship. Raffy did it in a very dramatic and exciting fashion being behind and trailing on points most of the way.

Raffy, while is not new to this kind of Championship Tournament having previously won three (3) Gold Medals in USA soil, was a little bit surprise of his excellent performance that day since he just arrived Friday night and jet lag on his trip from Manila to Oregon via San Francisco.
Hurray to Raffy de Jesus who by the way is from Casiguran, Sorsogon, and another proud moment for Casiguranon. The news traveled fast that the moment he won, over 120 Casiguranon who were in Las Vegas celebrating the Fiesta of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, CAUSA’s 10th year anniversary and the Induction of the new set of officers headed by Tony Haw, Jr. were all ecstatic and proud of his accomplishment. Luckily, Eric de Jesus, his older brother and mentor was among the guest of CAUSA as well as his older sister Irish. Eric was monitoring the fight while in progress and was the first to know of the outcome which he gladly share to all Casiguranon in Las Vegas.
Congratulations and good luck to Raffy. We are all proud of you.

Accepting the Challenge

El Presidente Tony Haw, Jr. in his speech accepted the challenge to lead CAUSA for the next two years. He admitted though that he has a very big shoes to fill following two legends of CAUSA in Vic Martires and Ed Escudero, past presidents.

But thankful for having quality supporting cast led by the cool and experienced Veep, Pinky de Castro Villa and the rest of the loyal and tested officers.

Progress Report

Outgoing President, Vic Martires reported that CAUSA membership is growing strong as it should and moving forward after having moderate accomplishments.

Members are loyal and united as shown by the successful dinner and dance at the Radisson
Hotel in Los Angeles, the well attended picnic at Redondo Beach and today's Induction Ball, Fiesta Celebration in honor of Nuestra Senora Del Rosario and the 10th year CAUSA anniversary.

He is now calling for full support and wholehearted cooperation from the rank and file.
